This October, our theme is Secret Science Lab – a hands-on school holiday workshop where children will discover the surprising science hiding inside everyday household items, and the kind of experiments they can set up again at home long after the program ends. Throughout the day, students will explore chemistry, physics and simple electronics through interactive group experiments and creative challenges: wiring up a working burglar alarm, making milk explode with colour, blowing a bubble inside a bubble, mixing colour-changing potions from red cabbage, building their own lava lamp, and growing a crystal tree to take home and watch develop over the following days. Each activity is designed to spark curiosity and encourage children to predict, test and improve their ideas like real scientists and engineers. No prior science knowledge is required – just a sense of curiosity and a readiness to explore!
